Essays, Round Two

- Foreign firms operating in China are better served by notions of long-term deliberate strategy than by emergent strategy processes. Under what circumstances might this prove true? Which false?
- Discuss the argument “the employer puts his money into … business and the workman his life. The one has as much right as the other to regulate that business.” Is it possible to create a governance and ownership structure that gives employees the optimal role, from the perspective of fairness (to recognize their past contributions) and productivity (to maximize their future contributions)? What are the major obstacles?
- Construct a case study of an H-share company or a “red-chip” company. The emphasis should be on their IPO-induced restructuring and/or their internationalization strategy.

may life and study complement each other well for the next few months - enjoy!
